nissan primastar van warning light?

Q: can anyone tell me why the seat belt and airbag warning light stays on on my nissan primastar van. (same van as renault traffic and vauxhall vivaro)

A: I had the airbag light stay on in my van (nissan interstar) nissan repaired this saying it was the curly wire (like a telephone wire) that ran from the airbag in the steering wheel down the steering column. they said it had got damaged. Mine was repaired 4years ago under warranty. I think they found out by simply plugging in a diagnostic machine. Its come on again this week. They said at the time it was a common fault. As for the seat belt light, these are normally hard wired so i can only think that the switch in the buckle is not breaking when the seat belt is inserted. If you unplug the plug (located under the drivers seat) from the wire that goes to the seat belt buckle(and possible the seat belt pretensioner) and it goes out, then the switch in the buckle is faulty.
