2000 - 2004 Nissan Frontier MPG??

Q: I read on Vehix.com that a 2000 Nissan Frontier V6 Crew Cab (which is what im looking for, or through a 2004) only gets around 15 mpg City, & 19 mpg Hwy. And with the way gas prices are, I don't think I could afford putting gas in a truck like that, much less make it to work. But I need a truck. And I've always loved Frontiers. Inside and out. Or would a 2005 or newer Toyota Tacoma Double Cab be better? Because I know Toyotas can take a beating and still be up and running, and I'm only 17 years old, just a kid, and I'm sure you know how kids are with their foot in it all the time. So what would be a better small truck to buy that gets good gas mileage? Or what could I do, or buy to make either of the trucks do better on gas? Something's like, cold air intake, exhaust system, or maybe that Tornado Fuel Saver thing??? Does that really work? Any advice would help A LOT. thank you for those who don't leave smart remarks. Much appreciated.

A: Weight and aerodynamics trucks are like bricks in the wind. And the extra weight you haul takes away gas milage. Just covering the bed of the truck causes less wind turblence. 2005 and up Frontier Trucks produce more Horsepower on less gas. That 4.0 liter 256 hp motor does not work as hard as the 3.3 liter. Exhaust System may help fuel economy. Aftermarket Tornado fuel line magnets are just hog wash. Light foot easy acceleration and not driving in town idling at traffic light are the way to better economy. I grew up paying 35 cents a gallon $3.50 to fill up my 1966 VW bug.
