Q: I drive a 2005 sentra 1.8s. I've thought i had head gasket problems. Had that checked and it holds pressure fine. Next idea is a water pump... here's the problem.... When i drive lately I've noticed my temperature gauge raising and coming back down. on rare occasions it's hard to start. It eats up coolant, and there's ton of pressure also. SO maybe a bad pump? Help me pelase, need this fixed asap. i also think that when the pressure builds up to the point where it blows out the overflow port, it hits my belt and make a squeal sometimes. I lubed it, and it was fine until my temp. gauge when nuts again, and it squealed a lil bit after.

A: There is a head gasket problem. Looking down the spark plug hole look for the piston top if you see shiny aluminum around the front and back edges of Cyl #3 or #2 those are the most common head gasket leak Cyl's. I pump the cooling system to 17 psi and watch coolant seeping into the Cyl. as the engine cools.
