Q: When i try to drive when the car has been sitting in the rain the car wants to stall out. for example last night it thunderstormed and when i went to leave, when i put it in gear and hit the gas, the car started to move then started bogging down and the lights were all dimming down. once i stopped the car the idle went back to normal. every time i tried to go from a stop it would want to stall just like that. also in gears 1-3, once the RPM's got to about 2k that same bogging down happened again. its almost as if its getting stuck there until i give it enough gas for the motor to take off. (obviously in the rain this is a problem). I dont know if the problem is in the motor or trans but is there anything i should be checking out?

A: Take it to local autoparts place and have them check the alternator. Next clean your MAF (mass airflow meter) is located under the nose panel. Open hood and look in front of the radiator. You will see two screws. Remove them and remove the nose panel and you will see the MAF. It will have an electrical plug and retaining clip. Remove it and clean it. When you go to autoparts place they have a cleaning areosol. Look inside the MAF and you will see a little resistor. Spray in the cleaner and make sure the screens on both sides are cleaned up and put back in. If your still having the same problem check your CAS (crank angle sensor) You can run codes on the computer and it will tell you if its faulty. The 1990 had as common problem with CAS. I have to tell that if the MAF or the CAS is bad, they are very expensive parts. Both run a few hundred. Heres a link to run codes on the ecu and what they mean: http://www.ttzd.com/tech/diagnostictech.html Good luck
