Q: i have a 97 nissan pickup, 2wd 2.4L 4cyl. i've done it a billion times, but it keeps leaking. the thermostat is fine, but the thermostat housing keeps leaking. i'm using the same permatex silicone to try to seal the housing. is there a different kind of gasket i should be using for the housing?
A: Housing may be warped or have a small crack you can't see. Also it can be eroded away at the gasket surface causing the leak.
