Q: my boss bought this truck new and is a great truck he started using it in his landscape company and has been great now it has 163,000miles on it i have drove it and love it but one of the workers that put oil in it filled it up too far and it started to smoke really bad so now its our camp truck and has burned most of that extra oil off only smokes a little when its in 4-5th gear going up hill. at camp it will never get out of 3rd gear. i was driving it saturday and still accelerates good im not too worried about it but how long will it last?? we dont know how much was in it and we couldnt drain it cause it was 45miles away from my bosses house so on the way home it burnt most of it off. ever since we have been checking the oil and it hasnt gone down so i think it should last awhile oh and its got the 2.4 (i think thats what it is) my boss said those a very good engines were going truck shoping tomorrow looking at 2001 3500 diesel woo hoo
A: It depends on how over full he put it. Why haven't you drained it out and put new in? It should be ok. Those engines (the 4 cylinder and the 6 cylinder both) are bullet proof. Just change the oil and see if it gets better.
