Q: My Nissan maxima 2000 has an air condition problem it only works while on full. Now I'm imagining if i have it on full all the time it will go through gas like water. Does any body know if i can fix this myself or the cost for this. Thanks in advance for helping.
A: Sounds like the blower resistor is bad. When the resistor goes bad it will only work on the high setting. The most common reason the resistor goes bad is because the blower motor is failing. You will need to buy a blower motor resistor and a blower motor. If you replace just the resistor then it may go bad again in a very short time due to the blower motor failing and you will have to buy another resistor. Running the A/C on "full" will not use more gas. You can buy these parts from the local parts store and replace them your self with a simple phillips screwdriver.
