Will a second generation talon engine fit in a first generation talon?

Q: I am thinking about this instead of replacing a blown engine and messed up tranny in a 1st gen talon. I can get the 2nd gen motor and ecu and everything for $500. Is it possible without too much modification?

A: You don't want the 2nd gen talon engine. The first gen's are actually better. The difference between the two is that the 1g 4G63 is a 6-bolt block, and then 2g 4G63 is a 7-bolt block. The 7-bolts are HIGHLY susceptable to crankwalk. The non-turbo 420A motors are the same with respect to the 7-bolt/6-bolt difference. I have a 2g DSM. And my 2g motor got crankwalk. Putting the 1g motor in it was the best thing ever. So find another 1g motor and ecu to swap in. It's easier. But theoretically, to answer your question, yes you can. But you wouldn't be smart to do so.
