Q: Other responses state that if it breaks it can cause serious engine damage. So could you please confirm, this means the car just does not stop running but could mean more costly repairs other than just the belt itself? My 96 GT only has 55k miles but is stored in the winters in WI. So between the age and cold and small usage does the belt deteriorate? I am thinking of having it done soon, just wondering if anyone thinks I am living on borrowed time? I'm getting afraid to drive it:)

A: I'd replace it now seeing as the car is 12 years old and near the 60K mark.
