Q: The mitsubishi lancer evolution came with an option for the fq400 engine. What made it so much more powerful than the other evo engines

A: UK Mitsubishi not only made major mods in the FQ400's engine components but also made some aerodynamic mods on the car. The FQ400 gets a carbon fiber lower lip on its front bumper. The side mirrors are smaller in the FQ400 to aid in its aerodynamics. Then of course, the usual big spoiler and the vortex generator on the roof. The engine mods are very long. It has special forged pistons and rods. It has a custom built Garrett GT dual ball bearing turbocharger that's bigger than the ordinary Evo. It also has a special OEM ecu. Even the cat back system and the exhaust manifold and exhaust elbow are custom built. HKS Iridium spark plugs are used. They only made 100 FQ400 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Mitsubishi entering the UK market. It cost about 50,000 pounds.
