Question about a 1999 Mercury Cougar v6?!!?

Q: My car is having alot of problems, i would like to just get a new one. Somebody told me that the engine is worth more than the car itself, and that i should sell the engine. Is this true? and how would i go about selling it, and how do you put a price on an engine?

A: All you said is that its having lots of problems. Are they engine related? If so the engine is probably worthless. At the same time, if you dont know that particular car its very possible you have a single underlying problem that can cure all the others. Especially if its things like door locks, radio, alarm, flickering lights, dash going dead. As for selling the engine alone-its not really worthwhile since you'll then have to do something with a worthless shell. Try www.newcougar.org and www.teamneco.com to sell it-you'll get a better price than most other places.
