should I get a use or rebuilt rear differential for my 2002 mercury mountaineer?

Q:

A: I would get a new one from the dealer. You do not mention how many miles that the vehicle has on it. If it does not have high mileage then a 2002 vehicle is worth the added price. If you decided too go with a used or rebuilt one I would still go to the dealer and ask for a recomendation on who they believe would do a good job. Rear ends have a very delicate balance when setting them up and not everyone knows how too do it correctly. If it is not done well then it will fail again much sooner than it should if done properly.
