Q: so i just bought a 2000 mercury cougar and whats happened is that when i drive it it kind of rumbles and bumps like i'm going over gravel on the road but i'm not. i can feel the vibrating in the steering wheel but and it seems to be worse when i am in first and second gear. any ideas what this could be? the rumbling is rather rhythmic.

A: I think you got bad tires. Go to your car. Run your hand a long tire tread (outer edge, inner edge and middle). If you feel lot of bumpy, it time to have new tires. If you need to get new tires, ask tire shop tech to check your suspension components too. Bad suspension components will cause abnormal tire wear.
