mercury marquis car?

Q: i want to know will a mercury marquis 2000 model motor fit in a 97 mercury marquis.

A: Yes the engine "long block" will fit. However, the intake for a '97 may not match up due to a major changeover to "power improved" style cylinder heads sometime in '99 to ALL modular engines (4.6-5.4-6.8L). This means the later model year engines use "square shaped" intake ports, while earlier "NON-power improved" heads use "teardrop shaped" intake ports. That said, a '97 intake will bolt up to the cylinder heads of the newer engine, but the intake passages will not line up properly. You may be able to find adapters in the aftermarket that would allow the intake to bolt up. Otherwise, you will need ALL emission controls and wiring including the PCM to make it all work. Hope this helps.
