Q: I don't know much about cars, so here it goes: The engine light comes on after driving only a mile, it looses antifreeze, when it's parked, although it is no where to be seen on the ground, and it also looses water. The car also has a grinding/rattling/bumping type of noise at the front end. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong and about how much it is going to cost to get it fixed? I'm really hoping it's not the engine.

A: I had a 1990 Cougar and eventually a head gasket went out. When this happened, my check engine light would come on and my car would start acting weird. It would eventually die and I'd have to pull over. The heater stopped working too. A head gasket is not cheap ($800). Good luck.
