Q: The throttle valve grommet on my 1991 Mercury Cougar is worn out and needs to be replaced before my transmission fails. Can someone tell me how to locate the TV grommet so I can replace it? Is it replaced from under the hood or under the car? Its AOD tranmission. Thank You kind sir. Yes it helps. Is it true that this small piece of plastic can ruin the transmission if it becomes so worn that falls off?
A: The plastic TV grommet is located on the underside of the throttle body, beside where the throttle cable connects the throttle linkage. Hope this helps
