Radiator Cooling Fan on a

Q: On a "1991 Mercury Topaz GS", when the radiator cooling fan stops working, can it be repaired by exchanging motor only, or, need entire assembled fan ? My question is, whether or not, the fan can be repaired without having the complete assembly, just by replacing the motor only, or, is it necessary to replace the entire fan itself with a new one?

A: depends on if the motor on the fan is bad then yes just change the motor only.but if you hook the motor up directly to your battery or just test it with a battery or take it off and take it to a near by auto zone and they will test it for free if its good then it is your (coolant temperature switch) or sensor BUT DONT FREEK OUT IF IT STARTS TO OVER HEAT IF IT DOES GET IT UP TO SPEED AROUND 40-50 MPH FOR A FEW MINUTES AND IT WILL COOL DOWN ALMOST TO NORMAL
