Q: I know the tracer isn't the bes car around, but it is very fuel efficient. However we took it to a mechanic and he said that heater is producing heat, but it isn't getting to the car. He said there is most likely a vent that isn't opening. What other problems could this be, and what are some fixes I could perform myself?

A: The Tracer does not use vacuum to move the blend door. It is attached with a cable from the heater control unit to the blend door. The cable runs from the dash, around next to the gas pedal up to the blend door. Check this cable and make sure that both ends are still atttached. You can see it from the driver's side footwell, while looking under the dash, just over the gas pedal. The attachments for the cable may have broken, or the temperature control itself.
