Q: My dad's truck has got it's check engine light on and it's throwing a code for the catalytic converter. Thing is there's 3 cats on his truck. We want to change out the front 2 that are in parrallel on a "Y" pipe which is most likely the cause of the problem. I'm looking for an exhaust diagram or illutration of this online for free. ALSO I have not been able to find a place online or in-store that carries this part ( A Y pipe with the 2 catalytic converters in it) besides from the factory. FYI: I found this part on most of the parts websites and it isn't the correct one. My friend works at Ford/Mercury/Subaru and he lifts them all the time. He specifically told me that there'e 3 cats. It's a V6 with a "Y" pipe coming off exhaust manifold which has 2 cats on each side and another one further down exhaust. I highly doubt he'd be telling me this if it were wrong. Answer #2: Can't take it back to dealer. Truck has over 100,00 miles on it and already past mileage/time limit for anything to be fixed. Let alone for free.

A: the y pipe is all one piece you will have to replace it all, its covered 8 years 80,000 miles but you are over that, it is 2 converters and a catalyist monitor thats what the 3rd one is called, sorry its not cheap to buy one but i would reccomend that you buy the pipe from ford, to avoid future headaches
