How to fix sqeaky shocks on my 1997 Mercury Mountaineer?

Q: It is especially noticeable when turning, and in drive-thrus

A: The rubber "boot" that's supposed to be there to protect each shock has probably worn out over time, letting dirt and moisture in. (I have a 1998 Mountaineer AWD.) I had to do this last year, and I had a few other bits and pieces in the front end replaced as well at the same time. You ought to consider investing in new shocks (and any other needed parts) for your safety as well as for having a quieter ride. Good Luck!
