Q: I am 16 years old and I went and test drove an '87 with 110,000 miles. It drove pretty solid and it was really clean. My parents thought it would be a great first car for me. I just wanted to know if you guys thought it would be a good first car. Is it reliable, safe, and easy to fix? I'm kinda handy with tools and my dad is really handy. Any help is appreciated!

A: I had a brand new 190 2.3, (1993, the last year of production) and I loved it. Solid as a rock, and stone reliable. The '93 model had all the updates and bugs worked out by that time. In '87, the model was just out for 3 years, so it's possible that there were some lingering problems, but likely wouldn't matter by now anyway. Get a detailed inspection, bumper to bumper. Expect pricey parts if bought from the dealer! Good luck...
