Q: im thinking of getting a mercedes, but with all the series numbers and what not, i dont know what to choose. I love most of merc models, especially CL 55 and SL 65. The question is, What is the diff between CL? CLS? SL? SLK? AMG? -I need a 4 seater car (atleast) -*but 2 doors is a bonus - open roof (not the soft kind.. but a metal one)
A: The SL-Class is a 2-seat sprots car, and the CL-Class is a full-size 2 door car with 4-seats. There are fewer CL-Class vehicles produced , so the price may be a bit higher for a well-maintained unit. AMG is a division of Mercedes Benz that upgrades the engine and suspension on regular Mercedes models. The CL55 is a great choice, it has a supercharged V8 engine and the AMG suspension. The SL65 AMG has a twin-turbo V12 that puts out 738 ft/lbs of torque between 1,200-4,000 rpm,,,,,super-fast! We had a client who bought one, then traded it in with less than 3,000 miles, got an SL550 instead. The SL65 was so fast it scared him! The new CL63 AMG is a rare car, it has a V8 engine that produces over 500HP, and is priced close to $200,000. The V12 Mercedes are exotic cars, and have higher maintenance costs than the V8's.
