Q: Okay, they all say that the Rx-8's top speed is 148mph...and is digitally stopped at 148....how come i see videos where ppl's Rx8s are going like almost 200mph ?? Can u do something to the rx8 to make it break the 148mph limit?!???

A: Several people have reported between 150 - 155 mph in stock configuration on RX8Club.com. Myself, I've managed 140 mph stock but there was plenty of RPM's for more. I have heard that they were supposed to be computer-limited to 149 but I don't know if that is true. It's possible because most speedo's will show your speed high by a couple MPH, so the few 150+'s may have only truly been 149. No stock or near-stock RX8 will do 200 mph, but maybe the speedo was showing kilometers/hour. 140 MPH is roughly 225 KPH. If the limiter exists in the PCM/ECU it would need to be reprogrammed to remove the limt.
