What should I look for when purchasing a 1991 Mazda RX7?

Q: It has a rebuilt engine but im not too sure of what else to look out for. Apparently they are expensive to fix so im just wondering what problems to look for before I buy it. Thanks in advance

A: That's your first clue; a rebuilt engine. Why was it rebuilt? To add performance? Or because it was in such bad condition that it HAD to be rebuilt? Look for chassis rust; to do this you must hire a mechanic to check the bottom of the car for you. Looks for performance modifications; these modifications usually have a vestigial of a racing driver. If the car was used in racing, which is quite popular among RX7 owners, you should be prudent of its tires, paint, and the engine. Look for interior destruction; if the carpet, glove box, etc. doesn't look/ work like it's supposed to, it tells a story of how the previous owner treated the car in general. You should also carfax the car, or, make sure it hasn't been in any accidents, salvaged, flooded, etc.
