Q: I pulled the codes for my SUV when the ABS lights came on. It was C1235 and C1236. I looked them up and it states it is the rear speed sensor. I am unable to find any manual like Chilton either online or Auto Store to help me. Does anyone know how to replace this? and Do you have any diagrams? Thank you for any assistance.

A: This particular vehicle is equipped with only ONE rear speed sensor, and it is bolted on top of the rear differential. Even though the codes you got were for a R/Rear and L/Rear speed sensor input signal missing, it IS only one, as stupid as it may sound. Rear speed sensor failures are also very common on these vehicles to set the two codes you've listed. They are also very inexpensive to purchase from the dealership. Replacement is also very simple. Simply raise your vehicle on a lift, and reach over the top of the rear differential, and unplug the electrical connector to the sensor. Once done, get your 10mm socket and ratchet, and remove the one bolt securing it to the case. Replacement is just the exact reverse of removal. Just be sure to lubricate the o-ring with a bit of oil before installing. Hope this helps.
