Q: Im trying to save some money by seeing if any other stock ford shocks will fit the 1996 lincoln continental that I have. I only need the rear because i have already replaced the front shocks and they work great. any help would be great thanks! if the taurus wont will any other make have coil springs that would work? i have replaced the front air bags with coils springs and they work great but the back needs the coils or is there a place where i can get tubing and a tube splitter for the back? I know that a continental that i saw had coils in the front and air bags in the back. Maybe it can be run with both and work well?
A: No sorry. The Conti shock is a specialized one and very expensive(probably why your here with that question huh?) The 95 to present Conti is a high-tech piece of machinery, as the car has "multiplexing", which means it has a bunch of modules that communicate with each other. While you may be able to get the Taurus shock to bolt up, one of the many modules(brains) would surely see it and probably not like it(most likely a vast array of error messages). americanairsuspension.com
