Q: the car recently has had a new fuel pump installed and the guage now does not work. Is there a reset switch for this or do I have to pull and replace the whole insert to correct this problem the gauge worked before replacing the pump and was told that there was a reset button but havent been able to locate it to reset the fuel gauge any suggestions?
A: chances are the unit was damaged during installation of the new pump . the sending unit (gas gauge part) is sold separately from the pump unit. even though the pump sets inside of the sending unit. It is also possible that some times just messing with the unit can cause them to malfunction. One more thing to check is to make sure if it has a float that works the gauge is that it doesnt have a leak and is full of gas. if it show it is empty all the time then this may be your problem. or it could be that the arm that holds the float is bent this can happen during removal and installation. hope this helps.
