Q: I took it to the Westside LExus inHouston, TX and they charged me $1250 for the 60K miles service and also for flushing the entire fuel system. The parts only costed around $375, the rest is for labor charges. I just need to know if that is normal. Thank you very much guys, I feel it little expensive too, especially on the labor part. But one additional thing they did was flushing the entire fuel system which costed around $350, this he said was arecommendation for any lexus after 40K miles. I agreed to do all this because I bought this vehicle at 55K miles from a dealer but there was no proper record of the previous maintenance by the previous owner, so I thought since I have to have this vehicle for a long time let me get it done. The next service at 65,000 he said would cost me around $150. But I will consider taking to the Toyota in future. Another thing he mentioned was to replace the front break pads which has only 2mm left while recommended is 5mm+, and he said it would cost around $400 to do the break job (front only), any opinion on this?

A: The year of the vehicle will determine the price. 2004 and up do not require transmission fliud or engine coolant replacement until 100,000 miles but with that being said $1250 is very pricey for a oil and filter, rotate & balance, front, center and rear differential flluid change, engine air filter, cabin air filter, drive belt, thorough inspection and test drive. Different dealers do different things in their services and vary widley around the country.Find a good LEXUS mechanic in you're area that owns his own shop.
