i have a 94 lexus with radiator fan problem trying to figure out how it works and if i can test it?

Q: i have a 94 lexus es 300 fluid radiator fan and its not working should it work all the time when the car is started and if it doesnt does that mean that it dont work. not sure how it works being fluid first time i have seen a fan that takes fluid to run it thanks for any help the powersteering fluid actually goes in and out of fan to spin it its not electrical that what i cant seem to figure out

A: The power steering pump provides fluid pressure for the fan. Any time the engine is running the fan should be turning. The fan speed is controlled by a duty solenoid on the powersteering pump. Are there any unusual noises coming from the powersteering pump area. is there fluid in the powersteering fluid resevoir? is fluid level is correct and fan is not turning at all its going to be either a bad hydraulic fan motor or defective powersteering pump
