Q: i need help in finding a place in southern california that can swap my engine and tranny ill pay for the whole thing i need 1993 4.0 manual tranny as well. any help at all would be great thank you
A: The 4.2 is a good engine with max torque in lower RPMs (240lb-ft @1800 rpm) where the 4.0 has 225lb-ft @ 4000rpm. Alot of people put the 4.2 crank in the 4.0 to make a stroker.. or they swap the head/intake/exhaust manifold to the 4.2 liter for the fuel injection and better flow. The 4.0 has better HP (190@ 4750rpm) where the 4.2 has 150@ 3800. Though I have never run my 4.0 that high into the RPMS.. If you can find a donor vehicle the swap shouldnt be that expensive. They are almost identical engines but alot of the problem will be wiring though I believe Painless wiring may offer a harness for this swap.
