1992 Jeep Cherokee Sport 2 Door

Q: Could some one explain to me why my jeep will start up and shut off without the key in it. Does it have something to do with the alarm system to keep the battery charged, also how do you work the alarm. I just bought this thing not to long ago every thing is great with it besides for the starting and then shutting off thing, at first i thought the truck was possessed . Drew Yes the jeep will start while i am not in it nor the key, it does not start all the way, it attempts to start then shuts off. If i have the key in the ignition and turned over like i was going to start it, and if the jeep attempts to start on its own then it will keep running. Yes the jeep will start with the key, it is the only way i can start it. It does not do this all the time that it why i think it has something to do with the alarm, the alarm light stays on all the time, it does not blink. I bought the jeep used, and it has done this on and off since. Is it possible that when the battery gets a bit low something kicks the starter on for a second just to put a little juice back in the battery? Also how does one work the alarm, the jeep did come with a little remote but when i have tried to work it nothing happens, i am not sure if it even goes to the jeep. Yup fixed the starting problem, to much gunk around the connectors. How bout this one though? My instrument panel is acting up, the gas gauge jumps all around and so doesent the tach, as well the speedometer doesent work, and it only sometimes jumps up then back down. All the other gauges work.

A: You need to be more specific here. Is this jeep starting while you're not in it?!!! Without the key, can you start it? By doing what? You better keep the doors locked until you can get a priest.
