Q: five or six years ago a fellow was rebuilding a 1977 Crestliner Nordsman II and then diedl. The boat ended up in a junk yard where I bought if to 200 bucks. It still has the masking tape on it where he was painting it etc. I think He must have gone thought the engine because the oil looks brand new, just like it came out of the can. # 1 I'm looking for a manual on iboats.com but their manual for that series of years shows 4 cyl, V6, and V8. Any ideas where I can find one for a straight 6? #2 What should I do to run this engine for the first time considering it has not run in about 5 years or so? #3. Are there any owners manuals available for this craft and where would they be found? *

A: Based on my limited research, see below; I strongly suspect that it is a 1976 or earlier drive, with a 250 cu in Chevy 6 Before starting, check the coolant and oil levels, pull the plugs, turn it over a few times with a wrench (not the starter) to make sure that it is not seized. Drain all the fuel - if there is any, you will most likely need to do a carb rebuild. If all is well, put the plugs back in, fresh gasoline, and battery, try starting it.
