Q: My cars ac would not get cold so i got my friend to put in the antifreeze that stuff you buy in a can at the autoparts store. My ac was good for a couple of days, now it is bact to blowing hot air again no matter how long i let it run the air never turns cold 2000 jeep cherokee limited

A: ummmm... antifreeze has nothing to do with air conditioning. If what your friend did was put in freon...and the a/c worked for a couple days and then stopped blowing cold... then you have a leak in your a/c system. Your friend put freon in your a/c system. Not antifreeze. Antifreeze goes in your radiator. it is a coolant additive that keeps the liquid in your engines cooling system from freezing...hence the name ANTIFREEZE. Freon, or more specifically, R-134a is a compressed gas that, when circulated through your air conditioning system, will move heat from the passenger area of your Jeep to the outside ambient air. Your air conditioning system has developed a leak and all of your freon has escaped. Simply replacing the freon will not solve your problem. You need to take your Jeep to a reputable shop and have the leak repaired, then your system will need to be vacuum tested and recharged.
