Q: I recently bought a Jeep wrangler. It appears that when at highway speeds and the tranny is in OD (1500rpm), that the jeep does not have enough power to turn the wheels. When i switch off OD (2300), it has much better power/torque. When in OD, I have to almost bury the gas peddal to keep the speed at 60MPH. With OD switched off I don't have to go down but about 1/4 to keep the speed at 60MPH. I know this is a stupid question, but i guess due to the 33" tires the OD is useless and burns more gas then with the OD switch off? With gas at $4.00/gal sure would appreciate some help understanding all this. Many Thanks.

A: You need to put in different gears,go with 4:88 and it will make a hugh difference. The carfreak guy is wrong, tires make a hugh difference in gas mileage and power.
