Q: I am planning on buying a 2004 g35 automatic. But if its automatic how come it has a minus and a plus sign next to the throttle. In this picture the signs are kind of faded but if the car is automatic how come it has that. Does this mean that i can switch between automatic and manual. I know paddle shifters have the minus and plus sign. I highlighted the automatic gear stages and the minus and plus sign. THE PICTURE IS IN THIS LINK ON THE BOTTOM !!! http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t45/geforce8800/45896.jpg
A: It's basically tip tronic automatic. When you slide the shifter into the area with the + and - you control the shifting of the car. So its like a manual in the way that you get to shift the car, but there's no clutch, so its not a true manual. You can just leave it in D and just let the automatic shift regularly, but if you want to have some fun (or just feel like controlling the ride better) just slide it over and you can control the up and down shifts. It's just like the paddle shifters, but your using the shift knob, pushing upwards to up shift, and downwards to downshift! Hope that clears it up for you!
