Is Nitrogen inflation worthwhile?

Q: I bought a 2003 G35 from the local Infiniti dealership and all the tires were inflated with nitrogen. Salesman said that is standard practice at this particular dealership. I have bought new 4 new tires from Bridgestone store, and am wondering if I should take the car back to the dealership, have the air purged and re-inflated with nitrogen. Interested in hearing from others who have had Nitrogen inflated tires. also, I live in Phoenix, so climate is a consideration too. During the summer is hits over 100. During the winter, the temperature can swing 20-30 degrees between night and day. Almost all my miles is city or using the city freeway system.

A: it is a good idea for a few reasons. with the lack of oxygen and moisture in the tire the rim will not rust. nitrogen does not leak out if the tire at the same rate as standard air, so the tires will not go flat like the rest do. nitrogen also does not have the same thermal expansion attributes that regular air does. it will not expand as you drive (to a point). air pressure is constant so the effect of cold tires wearing on the edges and not so much on the middle is not there. if i were you i would go back and talk to the sales man and see if you can not come to a resolution with him in this situation. as i see it if it came in with 100% nitrogen it should leave the same way UNLESS they have it posted in the shop that they do not have the means of doing this.
