citroen xsara picasso diesel?

Q: thinking of buying a 2005 (55) 1.6 hdi model. Anyone got one? Is it good to drive and own? Thanks.

A: Depends what are your expectations. If you need a spacious and comfortable family car with an economic engine, it is a good choice. The 1.6 HDI in the Picasso is an okay engine. The torque is enough if you don't do street racing :-) Consumption is pretty good, can be 5-6 liters / 100km, maybe more depending on your driving style. The car is very comfortable and ergonomic even for long travels and for five people, ideal family car. It has a relatively large luggage compartment with good variability. The car is normally packed with handy (or useless) extras. Maintenance is not class, French cars tend to have annoying litlle electronic and mechanic problems that can be expensive to fix especially if you take it to an official Citroen dealer. However, they are much more reliable than a lot of people think. The Picasso overall is a good car, it can be a good buy depending on the price and condition but generally it is fairly cheap second hand. But if you buy it from a stranger, get a professional to check it for you: general condition, sign of crash, state of engine etc. Good luck!
