Q: My 2006 Chrysler T&C gets awful gas mileage. It got about 20 in town when we purchased it, but now is like 17.7. Do any of you have any ideas what we can do to fix this?
A: Check your air filters. They might be old/worn, and that causes bad air into the fuel/air mix. Check your tire pressures. If your tires are flat, your car's engine is going to work hard to get moving than it needs to. If you have excess weight, then take it out. If you usually just have golf clubs in the back of your car, take them out and put them back in when you need them. Remember, weight = worse gas mileage. When on the highway, try to cruise at around 55 MPH. At around this speed, you'll obtain optimal gas economy. Last but not least, use your windows in the city. A/C detriments your gas mileage by 1-2 miles per gallon when in use.
