Q: Hello, I have a 99 chevy blazer 2 door. I am having trouble with it while it is reverse. When you first start the truck and put it in reverse it doesn't want to go. The rpms go up but it will only back up slowly or just coast. But after you drive it for a while I no longer have this problem. Anyone have any ideas of what I need to look at. Also it has trouble going up steep hills the rpms will rev but won't go any faster. Thanks. I checked the transmission fluid. It is red not brown and doesn't smell burnt. So I basicly need to get the filter changed? Anyone able to give me some instruction on how to do that or should I just get it done at a shop? I would prefer to do it myself.
A: you need to change the transmission fluid and the transmission filter. also check the transmission fluid level before you drive anywhere again, its easy start it and leave it in park, then pop the hood the dip stick for the trans will be on the left hand side toward the top of the engine bay, you then check it same as oil pull it out wipe it off put it back in and make sure its within the marks. if you want to do repairs yourself you need to go to the auto parts store most any will have what you need and what you need is the repair manual for your car there are around 50 bucks depending where you go and it will tell you how to do anything and everything to fix your car
