coolant sensor question?

Q: my 96' 328i coolant sensors plug wont snap in and stay. i tried using a zip tie to hold it. im still getting the check coolant level warning from the computer and when my car is driven for more than 30 min. it will die or it will idle really low. i have to mash the gas to get it to accelerate or it will die. and i cant get my rpms above 2500 without my car bogging down. could all of this be from the sensor not being hooked up or working properly?

A: coolant sensor wont cause your poor driveability issues. these cars (older ones) are known to have bad air meters (if you have the big metal box kind on your intake) but check for holes in your intake boot/ in the vicinity. also, these cars tend to have the occasional cam sensor problems which will cause these cars to cut out... it also may be a number of things though with this old of vehicle... id advise you to take it to get a check out and diag. good luck
