Q: my engine on my 93 525i idles just fine but when i drive it the engine shuts down completely after 10 or more miles. When i restart it, it will crank just fine like nothing happen but it will shut the engine again after so many miles. Sometimes the engine just jerked like is going to shut down. I check the fuel system and it seems fine. Does anyone out there have the same problem with 93 bmw 525i? help!!!
A: I think all the bumping around and the added electrical power needed when driving has finally fried your main relay its old and tired by now. Look on the pass side for a black cover with 4 screws the main relay is under that cover you will see it. It has 5 prongs. Replacing main relays are part of my maintenance programs now. Cheap and can save you a lot of head aches in the future..
