Q: My 2002 BMW 330 Cic motor is blown. Shop says it will cost $6500 to replace with a used (~80,000) motor. Car is probably worth $16000 running. Everything else on the car is still great condition. Worth saving or part it out? TIA
A: / I put a new engine in one of my past BMW's. It cost $9,000.00 several years ago. I have no regrets, and enjoyed the car for quite a long time afterward. When I sold the car through a private sale, the new motor was a plus for the sale, but I wasn't looking to get all of my money back. I was very satisfied with my decision. The cost of purchasing a new vehicle, and the depreciation of that new vehicle helped me with the consideration.
