Q: I have a 1997 740i with a generic OBD2 code. 0340, it appears to be a camshaft position sensor code. Does this model have more than one sensor? and if so, how do you determine which sensor is failing?

A: With it being a V8, it probably does have more than one sensor. You would probably have to have an ohm meter to read the ohms on the sensors. The one that does not read like the others is most likely the one at fault. Really you would need a manual on that car. I am not any expert at testing sensors, but that would be my guess. You might want to consult some BMW forums online. You would then get some more hands on advice! GOod luck.
