Q: I have an 84 BMW 528E series. or as my fiance likes to call it The POS series. any who my brakes work fine same resistance it has always had and all but i cant seem to get the brake lights to work at all. i checked the fuses and they are good and still no sign of them working again. whats the deal here?

A: Usually a case of corroded ground connections in the E28. The taillight gaskets are prone to leaking and then things start corroding. Check the sockets, bulbs and any wire connections. Clean as required with some sand paper, steel wool or scotchbrite pads. Use a little dielectric grease to help keep moisture away from the connections. And run over any little POS Honda Civic's you see. I routinely used to blow little rice crappers off with my old '88 528e.
