Best BMW/Mercedes in my situation?

Q: After driving a 2002 Mercedes ML500 for a few years now (13mpg city, 16 Hwy, 14 combined), I had enough of the terrible gas mileage. It's time to get a new car. I'm only looking into a BMW or Mercedes, and I need it to fit some criteria. First of all, it can be used or pre-owned, or w/e. It has to have AWD, be under $35k, and it can't be older than 2005. Most importantly, it has to have good gas mileage. Anything MUCH better than my current ML500. I don't mind if it's a 2 door car, but not something too small or low model types. (For example, I found the 3 series sedan to be too tiny and the Mercedes C class to have a bad reputation.) I was thinking of either a BMW 335i coupe, a Mercedes E350 sedan, or a BMW 7 series. Feel free to give me suggestions. Because I would prefer something to either look sporty, or either very large. Either way, I want to make an impression, not drive around in a tiny sedan. I said BMW or Mercedes. What makes you think that I would opt for a Subaru? Is it a luxury sports contender? No, not even.

A: The 335i coupe is great, and so is the 7 series, but you arent gonna find one used around 35k. At least not newer then 2005. I would look into an Audi A6, BMW 5 series, or maybe an ML 320/350? The BMW X3 and X5 get ok mileage, but the X3 is ugly if you ask me. If you need a sedan, get a 5 series or A6. SUV, look at a X3, X5, or ML 320/350 DONT get an E-class...they have had TONS of reliability issues. Good luck! Hope this helped!
