Q: I am trying to activate my x3 key so that when I unlock the car with my car it will switch to my settings and when my wife uses hers it will switch to her settings.

A: Unfortunately with the X3, storing key memory functions has to be done at the dealer, and they should have discussed this with you at/before delivery. They can program everything from alarm functions to radio functions. The new 3 series (E90) is the only car that you can do it on your own throught the set functions on the dash display or through i-drive for cars that have that. Ask your dealer for the list of possible functions that both you and your wife can choose from for the key memory. You'll then have to bring both keys in where the dealer hooks the car up to the computer to adjust the settings for both keys. And anther thing - don't let them try and charge you for this- they were supposed to do this as part of the pre delivery process!
