A: The M5 and M3 from that time frame use completely different engines. The M3 was a 4-cylinder that came out in 1986 in Europe. The M5 of that time used 3 different inline 6-cylinder engines. Neither car was available in 1984. No 6-speed transmissions were available except in E34 M5 in 94. In November 92 the new E36 M3 did use a 3.0 liter 6-cylinder. You're talking about 5 different engines in that time frame between the 4 models (E28, E30, E34, E36), and a transmission that wasn't used until after the period you are referring to. So what exactly do you need? What car is it going into? Also, where are you located? I might be able to tell you places in Colorado, but it sounds like you are far away. Need more info.
