stolen Audi tt's?

Q: does any one know if audi tt's on a 2002 plate are capable of being stolen? a friend of mine has just been questioned by the police following the theft of hers and her insurers are refusing to pay out as apparently they are unable to be stolen unless the thief has the keys (which she still has)??!!! i have never ever heard of this - the police have not pressed charges etc but her insurers have told her that she must prove to them that these can be taken. i dont want a step-by-step guide on how to pinch one - just confirmation that someone has had one taken previously - surely if there was such a thing as an unpinchable car we would all have one?!

A: I've got a TT Roadster and was told by the garage that they cannot be knicked. Always need the key in 'cos the security system constantly interrogates the keys chip (in the black bit) and thereby forms a circuit in the ignition system. If you were to snap the key bit off the black portion to use just that bit, it will start, but almost immediately cut out.
