Q:

A: struts are not that hard to replace however if you want it done right take it to a shop, considering that once you replace the struts if you do not give the car an alignment you are going to wear the tires prematurely. also it may not be your struts, although it is a good idea to replace them, you may want to take your car to your local tire shop and ask the technicans to check your tires for seperation, or they may be out of balance, if you were told by a mechanic that your struts are bad you may want to get a second opinion, or you can check yourself, to see if the struts are bad, look at the strut tower itself, if you see something that looks wet then your struts are probably leaking and need to be replaced, however if they are not leaking then try some of the other ideas considering that struts are pretty expensve and mechanics make a ton of money selling them, make sure you explore all of your options before you go and dump money into your car you could have saved, so check your balance, check for seperation and go somewhere where you can trust the guys telling you what is going on with your car, if you live in the northwest go to les schwab, they really know what they are taking about and they wont try and sell you something you dont need.
