Q: It is a 5 cylnder, 2.2 liter engine. Most of the time it starts right up and runs great. But every now and then (about once a week) it will start up, sputter and die, then it wont start unless I let it sit for about an hour. Usually it happens when I make just a quick stop somewhere, and the engine is turned off for 5 minutes or so. What would cause this? The year of the car is 1987

A: Fuel presure regulator. On the front end to the right of the metering head there is a bolt which has a sprung seal unit remove clean and check using the test sequence as found on line (jumper the fuel pump and run for set period of time to see how much fuel comes out of the injectors).
